Peter is Director of Research at the non-profit Coin Center, and a board member of the non-profit Zcash Foundation. He is a leading advocate for online privacy, free speech, and permissionless blockchain technologies. He is a graduate of NYU Law School, as well as a self-taught web developer. He is the author of several papers on the regulatory and public policy landscape for cryptocurrencies and decentralized computing systems, in particular work on the intersection of regulation and US constitutional privacy and speech rights. He has testified before the US Senate and House of Representative, briefed staff and members of the EU parliament, and educated policymakers and regulatory staff around the world on the subject of cryptocurrency regulation and decentralized computing systems. Previously, he was a Google Policy Fellow and collaborated with various digital rights organizations on projects related to privacy, surveillance, and digital copyright law.
